MUHAMMAD’S TEACHINGS TO MANKIND
“ A man came to Abū-ad-Dardā' and said, "I have a wife, and my mother (1) is ordering me to divorce her." Abū-ad-Dardā' replied, "I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, say, 'A parent is the central gate of Paradise (2)! It is up to you to miss out on that gate or hold on to it! '" Footnotes: (1) The narrator was unsure whether he said "my mother" or "my father" (2) i.e. being dutiful to parents is a main factor in entering Paradise. ”
